About the Program

Don Bosco Migrant Services (DBMS) conducted an orientation program at Mappedu to educate internal migrant workers about ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) and E-Shram registration. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among participants about their health and labour entitlements while providing practical guidance on accessing these digital platforms.

Participation

A total of 25 migrant workers participated in the session. DBMS staff provided personal guidance throughout the program, ensuring that every participant received clear instructions and support for understanding the registration processes. The small-group format allowed for close interaction and individual attention, creating an engaging and informative environment.

Key Focus Areas

The session highlighted the importance of digital health IDs (ABHA) for accessing healthcare services across India, demonstrating how such identification could simplify medical care and ensure better tracking of personal health records. Participants were also introduced to the benefits of E-Shram registration, which provides social security coverage, access to welfare schemes, and recognition of labour rights. The program included a practical, step-by-step demonstration of the registration process for both ABHA and E-Shram, enabling participants to gain hands-on experience and confidence in completing their own registrations.

Highlights

The orientation successfully increased participants’ awareness of their healthcare and labour entitlements. The interactive nature of the session encouraged questions and clarifications, fostering understanding and engagement. Many of the workers expressed strong interest in registering for both ABHA and E-Shram, reflecting the program’s effectiveness in promoting digital inclusion and motivating participants to take proactive steps toward accessing welfare services.

Conclusion

The orientation at Mappedu effectively promoted digital inclusion and welfare access for migrant workers. By combining practical demonstrations with personalized guidance, DBMS empowered participants to navigate ABHA and E-Shram registration confidently. The initiative reaffirmed DBMS’s commitment to supporting migrants through awareness-building, capacity development, and ongoing assistance, contributing to the overall well-being and empowerment of the community.
