Introduction
Don Bosco Migrant Services (DBMS), Chennai, in collaboration with the Wockhardt Foundation, organized a General Free Medical Camp on 02 August 2025 at the URC Construction Site, Saltu Kotta. The initiative was undertaken to provide essential healthcare services to migrant labourers who often lack access to regular medical facilities.
Objectives
* To provide free medical consultation and check-ups to migrant labourers.
* To create awareness about lifestyle diseases and preventive care.
* To ensure access to medicines and basic health support.
Participation
A total of 103 migrant labourers participated in the camp and availed themselves of the medical services offered.
Program Activities
* General health check-ups conducted by medical professionals.
* BP and sugar level testing for early identification of lifestyle-related health issues.
* Free medicines distribution to those in need.
* Individual guidance provided on maintaining personal health and preventive practices.
Key Outcomes
* Improved awareness among participants about the importance of regular health check-ups.
* Identification of cases requiring follow-up for lifestyle diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
* Distribution of medicines ensured immediate relief and support for common ailments.
Conclusion
The General Free Medical Camp successfully reached 103 migrant labourers, addressing their healthcare needs and spreading awareness on preventive healthcare practices. This collaboration between DBMS and the Wockhardt Foundation highlighted the importance of accessible healthcare for migrant communities and reinforced the need for continued support and regular medical interventions at labour sites.
