Introduction

On 1st March 2025, Don Bosco Migrant Services organized an Education Awareness Program at the SLGBW Chamber in Kavarapettai. The program was conducted with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of regular school attendance and encouraging both children and parents from migrant families to prioritize education. The event saw the participation of 70 children, and the focus was on fostering a sense of responsibility towards regular school attendance.


Objectives of the Program

  • The primary objectives of the Education Awareness Program were:

  • To emphasize the importance of regular school attendance for the academic success of children.

  • To encourage both parents and children from migrant families to take education seriously.

  • To recognize and reward consistent school attendance among the students.

  • To create an awareness of the long-term benefits of education for children in migrant communities.

Program Highlights

The Education Awareness Program was well-received by the participants and included several key activities to achieve its objectives:

  • Awareness Session: A detailed session was conducted on the significance of attending school regularly. The session highlighted the challenges faced by migrant families, particularly those related to the child’s education, and how overcoming these challenges could lead to better opportunities in life.

  • Motivational Talk: A motivational talk was delivered by a guest speaker who inspired the children and their families to stay committed to education. The speaker shared stories of success that emerged from hard work and perseverance in education.

  • Reward Distribution: To motivate students to attend school regularly, those who had maintained consistent attendance were awarded shirts as a token of recognition for their commitment. This initiative aimed at making school attendance a habit and encouraging students to continue their efforts in maintaining regularity.

Interactive Activities: Several interactive activities, including group discussions and role plays, were conducted to engage the children and help them better understand the importance of education in shaping their future.

Beneficiary Participation

A total of 70 children attended the program, with 55 of them being regular school attendees. The remaining 15 children were encouraged to improve their attendance and understand the value of attending school. The participation of these children reflected a strong desire to learn and the willingness of the community to embrace education.

Outcome and Impact

The Education Awareness Program had a positive impact on both the children and their families. The program succeeded in:

  • Raising Awareness: The participants gained a better understanding of the long-term benefits of education, as well as the importance of regular school attendance in their personal development.
