The first awareness programme was conducted at the Panchayat Office in Mambakkam Village. Prior permission was obtained from the Panchayat President before organizing the session.

Introduction to DBMS

The session began with an introduction to Don Bosco Migrant Services, highlighting its recent initiatives and ongoing support for migrant communities. Participants were informed about various activities conducted by DBMS, including:

  • Football tournaments

  • Medical camps at villages and construction sites

  • Awareness programmes on HIV/AIDS

  • Sessions on menstrual hygiene

  • Guidance on children’s education

  • Other social welfare initiatives

These activities were shared to help migrant workers understand the wide range of services and support available to them.

Government Welfare Schemes

Participants were educated about:

  • ABHA Card

  • e-Shram Card

  • Aadhaar-linked services facilitated by DBMS

Workers who did not possess these cards were informed about upcoming registration camps and assistance provided by DBMS.

Youth Interaction and Sports Discussion

An interactive discussion was conducted with migrant youth on the importance of sports for physical and mental well-being. While most participants expressed interest in cricket, other sports such as volleyball, kabaddi, and football were encouraged for regular engagement.

Digital Awareness and Calendar Distribution

Participants were guided on how to use the Don Bosco pocket calendar, including:

  • Scanning QR codes

  • Accessing informational videos

  • Registering on the DBMS mobile app

  • Using the app for support services

Pocket calendars were distributed to all 18 participants at the end of the session.
