Introduction

Don Bosco Migrant Services (DBMS) conducted an awareness program on 23 November 2025 at the Pannur Office, focusing on Women’s Rights, Gender Equality, and Self-Defence for migrant women. The initiative aimed to educate participants on their rights, promote gender sensitization, and encourage personal safety awareness.

Program Details

The session began with the screening of an awareness video highlighting women’s rights, gender-based challenges, and the importance of equality and safety. The visual material helped participants understand real-life issues and empowered them with essential information.

Following the video, the DBMS team explained key concepts related to gender equality, legal rights, and basic self-defence awareness. The participants listened attentively and actively engaged with the session content.

Participant Engagement

The seven migrant women who attended the program showed a keen interest in the discussions. Their participation demonstrated the need and relevance of such initiatives within migrant communities.

Conclusion

The program concluded with a group photograph to mark the occasion. Snacks were distributed to the participants, and they were sent home after the session. The activity was successfully organized with the support of the DBMS staff and contributed to strengthening awareness, safety, and confidence among migrant women.
