Free Health care camp for Construction workers in Valleswaren Kovilthottam
At Valleswaran Kovil Thottam under TNUHDB, DBMS held a Free Health Care Camp for Construction Workers on (10/05/2023). We continuously endeavour to provide our employees and on-site labourers with health screening facilities as part of our Health and Safety programme to ensure their health.
78 workers in total, including women and children, underwent screening. The doctor check-ups connected to the general health check-up of the people’s heart, lungs, blood pressure, sugar, echo screening, eyes, and cancer will be conducted at this health camp. However, the majority of employees required particular care for eye conditions and skin conditions, and we created plans for their referral treatment. In addition, if any
kind of disease or infection was found, treatment was also offered and recommended. Along with treating patients who had been ill from working for extended periods of time in the heat, doctors also warned about different hazardous diseases that could develop if improved nutrition and health were neglected and urged drinking enough water during the summer.
Due to the cement work and lengthy shifts in Sunnyside, these workers are primarily impacted by skin conditions. Lacking access to clean drinking water and bathing facilities, refugees must purchase water from outside with their own pocket money everywhere they go. There were 8 kids at the construction site, and the doctor gave the sick workers medicine and receipts to attend a nearby government hospital. The female members of the labourers’ households were informed about government facilities for expectant women, and the workers themselves received
education on health and hygiene. The secret to remaining healthy is awareness. We want people to recognise how important good health is. Special thanks to Zone 13 doctors Drs. Gaumati and Ram from TNUHDB’s medical department
