Strategic Development Meeting on Migrant Initiatives and Evening Study Center Enhancements
A staff meeting was convened to review and discuss key initiatives and developments aimed at enhancing the support and services provided by Don Bosco Migrant Services (DBMS). The meeting focused on the intra-state migrant initiative, potential partnerships with CSR projects and government departments, as well as improvements to the Evening Study Center for effective student engagement and empowerment.
Key Agenda Points:
Intra-State Migrants Initiative: A reminder was issued regarding the recently launched initiative to support intra-state migrants. The discussion centered on the strategic development of this program to better address the needs of migrant communities. Key areas of focus include strengthening connections with corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects and establishing stronger ties with relevant government departments to secure resources and institutional support.
The initiative aims to empower migrant workers through targeted interventions, including access to legal aid, education, healthcare, and vocational training. The potential formation of a union or collective body was explored as a long-term strategy for empowering the migrant population, ensuring their rights, and fostering community leadership.
Evening Study Center Development: The meeting also addressed the need for improvements to the Evening Study Center, with an emphasis on ensuring quality education for students in 5th grade and above. By focusing on older students, the center aims to optimize teaching time, improve learning outcomes, and provide more tailored follow-up support.
Picnic and Special Recognition: Plans were discussed to organize a picnic for the students as a means of building community spirit and providing recreational opportunities. Special gifts will be awarded to class achievers to encourage academic excellence and personal growth.
Study Environment and Resources: To improve the learning experience, the need for a more comfortable study space and additional facilities was highlighted. Teachers were encouraged to ensure that every student has a special follow-up book for tracking their progress. This book will be used to record marks from tuition tests, as well as other follow-up activities, providing a clear structure for academic tracking and support.
The meeting underscored the importance of strategic planning in both the intra-state migrant initiative and the development of the Evening Study Center. By fostering stronger relationships with CSR projects and government departments, and by providing better resources for students, DBMS is committed to advancing its mission of serving marginalized communities and empowering the next generation of leaders.
The steps outlined will ensure that both initiatives evolve to meet the growing needs of the migrant community and the students in our care, with a focus on holistic development and sustainable impact.
