Christmas Celebrations 2024: Spreading Joy with Don Bosco Migrant Services

The Don Bosco Migrant Welfare Organization (DBMS) spread the spirit of Christmas across various communities in December 2024, emphasizing values of service, gratitude, and unity. These celebrations brought together marginalized families and children, with gifts, joy, and recognition for educational achievements, showcasing the organization’s commitment to uplifting the underprivileged.

Service and Sharing:

The essence of the Christmas celebrations lay in DBMS’s dedication to sharing joy and supporting communities in need. Gifts, including bags, snacks, juice, and sarees, were distributed to hundreds of children and families. At Peravallur on December 17, the celebrations included a special lunch for staff and evening study center teachers, acknowledging their crucial role in shaping the future of marginalized children.

Recognizing Talent and Commitment

DBMS used the occasion to honor students who excelled in academics and demonstrated regular attendance in evening study classes. At Kannagi Nagar, Ezhil Nagar, and Perumbakkam on December 22, 90 children received special prizes for their achievements. Such recognition encouraged continued commitment to education and personal growth.

Fostering Community Bonding

Christmas celebrations brought together families and students, fostering unity and mutual support. Events at Gandhinagar, Manali Burma Nagar, and Pannur saw enthusiastic participation from children and families, with performances and interactive activities adding to the festive spirit. At Gandhinagar, 100 families celebrated with gifts and cultural activities, while Manali Burma Nagar witnessed 120 students reveling in the joy of Christmas.

Gratitude to Educators and Leaders

DBMS acknowledged the tireless efforts of evening study center teachers and local leaders in making these celebrations meaningful. The presence of special guests, such as Mr. Jebin Deva (TNUHDB – CDO) and Mr. Vinod (Shumaidhangi Charitable Trusts), at the Kannagi Nagar event highlighted the collective effort in empowering marginalized communities.

Conclusion

The Christmas celebrations of 2024 underscored the values of service, recognition, and unity. DBMS’s efforts brought smiles to the faces of approximately 360 children and involved over 20 dedicated teachers across the various locations.
